Government Executive featured REI Systems’ Senior Director Jeff Myers and Grants Program Manager Rujuta Waknis in the article, “Streamlined Grant Reporting May Be Coming Soon,” on Monday, June 25th. The article summarizes the Government’s transition from a document-based system to a data-centric system, current challenges to standardization, and overall grants reform.
Myers discusses the difference between financial data and program-specific data and how both are needed when agencies are standardizing laws for grant programs. Waknis adds that change management (consulting and engaging grantees on benefits) is also needed to for effective program management. The movement for data standardization is in process across agencies so it is necessary to understand what and how data analytics are used to have successful grant program reporting.
